Delta Culture

The Natchitoches-NSU Folk Festival strives to be an edifying, entertaining, and educational experience. At the 2017 Festival, ten videos on contemporary Delta culture were recorded.

The portions of the festival that were video documented include narrative sessions, workshops, and demonstrations on Delta folk genres: foodways, dance, music, material culture, and French culture. Discussions were led by folk artists and cultural authorities from these Delta folk communities to meet and share their traditions with the public and scholars.

This project was sponsored by a grant from the Lower Mississippi Delta Initiative of the National Park Service.
